1. Project Overview
Blueloop is a specialized service-management application designed to streamline and modernize the laundry experience for students and residents at IIT Jodhpur. The project addresses the friction points in traditional campus laundry systems—such as long wait times, manual tracking, and cash-only transactions—by providing a centralized digital platform. It connects users directly with the campus laundry facility, ensuring transparency, reliability, and ease of use.
2. The Approach
The development of Blueloop is centered on a User-Centric Service Design model. The approach focuses on three core pillars:
Digitizing the Queue: Moving away from physical logbooks to a digital queue system that allows users to monitor their place in line without being physically present.
Operational Efficiency: Providing the laundry staff with a simplified interface to update order statuses (Washing, Drying, Ready for Pickup) in real-time.
Localized Solution: The app is tailored specifically to the IITJ campus ecosystem, integrating with local hostel addresses and student roll numbers to ensure a secure and verified user base.
3. Key Features
A. Smart Order Management
Real-time Tracking: A live progress bar that shows the exact stage of the laundry (e.g., "In the Machine," "Drying," or "Ready").
Order History: A detailed log of past transactions, including item counts, dates, and costs, helping students manage their monthly expenses.
B. Booking & Scheduling
Slot Reservation: Users can check the current load of the laundry facility and book a specific time slot to drop off their clothes, preventing overcrowding.
Pickup Notifications: Automated push notifications sent to the user’s device the moment their clothes are folded and ready.
C. Itemized Inventory
Clothing Categories: A simple interface to select the number of shirts, trousers, bedsheets, etc., which automatically calculates the total price based on pre-set campus rates.
Special Instructions: A section for users to add notes for delicate items or specific washing requirements
