1. Project Overview
The "Bucket Cycle Trolley" is a patented storage attachment designed to transform standard bicycles and e-cycles into capable cargo carriers. Born from the need to expand the capabilities of cycle owners and Mart/Dmart shoppers, this trailer addresses the common struggle of transporting groceries and heavy items without a car.
The project has successfully achieved intellectual property protection, receiving a Certificate of Registration of Design from the Patent Office, Government of India, recognizing its unique "Non-Pivoted Detachable" configuration.
Inventors: Mr. Arpan Debdas Nandi & Dr. Hiren Arvindbhai Shah.
Design Application No: 432144-001.
2. Design Approach
The design process focused on solving the "limited mobility" and storage constraints of traditional cycling through a rigorous development workflow using NX CAD for modeling and KeyShot for rendering.
Universal Compatibility: The core requirement was to create a system compatible with all bicycle and e-cycle models, ensuring no rider is excluded based on their bike type.
Dual-Purpose Functionality: The design approach emphasized versatility; the unit functions as a towable trailer while cycling but is easily detachable to serve as a standalone hand trolley for shopping inside the store.
Durability Over Complexity: A SWOT analysis guided the choice of materials, prioritizing a robust "load carrying capacity" and "convenient transport" over complex, fragile mechanisms.
3. Key Features
Patented Universal Attachment System:
Features a unique Non-Pivoted Detachable mechanism.
Utilizes adjustable arms with a Nut-Bolt Mechanism and joints that allow for easy attachment and detachment from the cycle's rear.
Heavy-Duty Construction:
Body: Constructed from Pressed Steel to withstand substantial weight and daily wear.
Chassis: Supported by a sturdy Ladder Frame foundation.
Mobility: Equipped with Steel Wheels and All-Terrain Tires to handle uneven city roads and varied surfaces.
User-Centric Utility:
Integrated Handle: A dedicated handle allows the user to pull the trolley comfortably when it is detached from the bike.
Bottle Holder Area: Includes a specific designated space for secure bottle storage within the bucket.
Capacity: Engineered to support substantial weight, making it ideal for grocery runs and heavy loads.
